AVOCADO
Avocado is the fruit of the avocado tree, believed to originate from Central America and Mexico. They are easy to cultivate, mostly in tropical and dry summer climates of many countries. The avocado has pear-shaped, with slightly hard, dark skin, colors ranging from dark green to black. When ripe, the flesh is soft, light yellow, like butter, with a creamy, nutty taste.
Nowadays avocados have become many people’s go-to choice of fruit, especially in the Western markets. Consumers consider avocado as a super-food because of its versatility for usage in breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as dessert.

Possessing high nutritional value, avocados have many health benefits. It contains a variety of nutrients, including 20 vitamins and minerals such as vitamins C, E, K, and B6, which are beneficial to health. A rich source of magnesium, potassium, beta-carotene, and omega-3 fatty acids, which are great for preventing and controlling heart disease and maintaining healthy hair, skin, and nails.
The avocado tree was brought into our country by the French in the 1940s. This tree is grown mainly in the southern provinces such as Dong Nai, Dak Lak, Lam Dong, and Vung Tau... regions that haveall favorableconditions including terrain, climate, and soil conditions to growing avocado. Nevertheless, Vietnam was not ranked as one of the world’s leading exporters of Avocados, nor is the fruit considered a staple crop in Vietnam’s agriculture.
However, in recent years, thanks to the growing demand for this fruit from overseas markets, the market price for avocado has been rising consistently. Seeing the opportunity, local farmers have focused on cultivating avocados, following Global Gap and VietGap criteria for export. FOSACHA exports two varieties of Avocado:
+ Hass Avocado: The oval fruit is longer than other varieties, and has a dark rough, “pebbly” texture. When ripe, the skin turns purple-brown. The flesh of the fruit is creamy yellow, rich in fat. The seeds are quite small, and the aroma is characteristic of chestnuts. The flesh is easy to scoop out of the skin.

+ Booth Avocado: The fruit has a thicker, smooth skin than that of any other variety. The thick flesh has a very creamy texture with dark yellow color when ripe. It has a rich, fatty flavor.
