Export Overview

The avocado tree was brought into our country by the French in the 1940s. This tree is grown mainly in the southern provinces such as Dong Nai, Dak Lak, Lam Dong, and Vung Tau... regions that haveall favorableconditions including terrain, climate, and soil conditions to growing avocado. Nevertheless, Vietnam was not ranked as one of the world’s leading exporters of Avocados, nor is the fruit considered a staple crop in Vietnam’s agriculture.

However, in recent years, thanks to the growing demand for this fruit from overseas markets, the market price for avocado has been rising consistently. Seeing the opportunity, local farmers have focused on cultivating avocados, following Global Gap and VietGap criteria for export. Vietnamese avocado has entered many countries and regions, including Singapore, China, Russia, Malaysia, ...

Sensing the interest in Vietnamese avocado from potential overseas importers, FOSACHA has chosen the fruit as one of our main exported products.

FOSACHA exports two varieties of Avocado:

+ Hass Avocado: The oval fruit is longer than other varieties, and has a dark rough, “pebbly” texture. When ripe, the skin turns purple-brown. The flesh of the fruit is creamy yellow, rich in fat. The seeds are quite small, and the aroma is characteristic of chestnuts. The flesh is easy to scoop out of the skin.

Unripe Hass avocado has rough green skin

+ Booth Avocado: The fruit has a thicker, smooth skin than that of any other variety. The thick flesh has a very creamy texture with dark yellow color when ripe. It has a rich, fatty flavor.
